A New Chapter for LDWO
Two years after the beginning of Leoni Design Workshop, a renewed identity reflects what the studio has become—and where it is going next.
When LDWO began, the idea was simple: to create an independent design workshop capable of combining creativity, technical knowledge and direct experience within the yacht industry. There was no need to define everything immediately. The priority was to work, build relationships and understand where the studio could create the greatest value.
Over the past two years, that process has gradually shaped LDWO into something clearer and more structured. Projects, conversations and collaborations have helped build a growing network across the yachting industry, connecting the studio with shipyards, naval architects, engineers, suppliers and other design professionals.
The launch of this new website therefore represents more than a visual update. It marks the beginning of a new chapter for LDWO.
From an individual practice to an independent workshop
LDWO was created by Jacopo Leoni after nearly a decade of experience working closely with yacht construction, design development and the realities of the shipyard environment. That background continues to define the studio’s approach today. Design is not treated as decoration or as an isolated creative exercise. Every project begins with an understanding of its context: the vessel, the client, the market, the technical constraints and the decisions that need to be supported.
During its first two years, LDWO has worked across different scales and stages of the design process—from early concepts and exterior styling to interior development, refit studies, three-dimensional modelling and technical drawings. This variety has helped clarify the role of the studio: to connect vision with feasibility and to transform initial ideas into design solutions that are distinctive, understandable and credible.
A network built through the work
An independent studio is not built only through projects. It is also built through trust. Every collaboration has contributed to creating a wider professional network around LDWO. Relationships developed with shipyards, specialists and industry professionals have opened new perspectives and created opportunities for the studio to contribute to increasingly complex projects.
This network has not been created through a single launch or communication campaign. It has grown gradually, through daily work, technical discussions, shared challenges and completed deliverables. It is one of the most important foundations for the next stage of LDWO. The studio remains intentionally agile and independent, but it is now supported by a stronger ecosystem of experience, contacts and complementary skills. This makes it possible to respond to different project requirements while maintaining a direct and personal approach.
More clarity, not simply a new image
The renewed identity of LDWO is intended to communicate this evolution more clearly. The new website presents the studio through four main areas of activity: new-build concepts, refit design, seasonal updates and smart presentations. These services reflect the kind of work developed during the first two years and the practical needs encountered within the industry.
The purpose of the rebrand is not to create the appearance of a different studio. It is to present the existing studio with greater precision. The visual language is more focused. The portfolio is more selective. The message is more direct. Less design as decoration. More commercial clarity. This principle represents the direction LDWO intends to follow: strong ideas supported by experience, communication and an understanding of how design decisions affect the wider project.
Looking ahead
The first two years were about building foundations. The next phase will be about strengthening the studio’s position, developing new collaborations and continuing to work on projects where design can provide both creative and strategic value. LDWO will continue to operate from Tuscany, within one of the most important areas of the international yacht-building industry, while working with clients and professionals across different markets.
The studio will remain open to different forms of collaboration—from confidential design support and technical development to complete concept and refit projects. This News section will also become a place to share more than studio updates. It will include project stories, design observations, technical insights and perspectives on how the yacht industry is evolving. The new website is therefore not the conclusion of a rebranding process. It is a clearer starting point for what comes next.
